L.L. DOGS KETCHUP POLICY

Here’s the Issue:

We are often asked why we do not put ketchup on our hot dogs (some people can get pretty emotional over the ketchup question).  Here’s the reason: Ketchup is destructive of all that is right about a properly assembled hot dog.  Ketchup smothers the flavor of the hot dog because ketchup makers overload their tomato blends with sugar, which masks the flavor of the beef and other toppings.  Ketchup destroys, rather than compliments, the hot dog.  If you want tomatoes - we will gladly top your hot dogs with fresh tomato slices.  

Do you recall the scene from the Dirty Harry movie where Harry and his partner are investigating a murder scene?  Both Harry and his partner are eating hot dogs.  They look over the bloody mess of a bad guy who just got gunned down.  Harry remarks: "That is absolutely sickening".  The partner responds: "Yeah the guy was in the prime of his life, and now look at him".  Harry retorts "No, not him, you just put ketchup on a hot dog!"

 Here’s our Rule:

If you ask us for ketchup on the dog, we cannot with a clear conscience put ketchup on it.  It would be a violation of L.L. Dogs’ Law.  The best we can do is respectfully prepare your dog with all the appropriate trimmings, and then grudgingly direct you to the ketchup packets around the corner so YOU CAN RUIN IT YOURSELF!  Nothing personal, its just that KETCHUP DOES NOT BELONG ON L.L. Dogs gourmet hot dog!
